Terrace Avenue To the honorable Chair Woman and Historic Preservation Commissioners, I am writing to oppose the application for a Certificate of Appropriateness (File # 220755) for the plans for construction of a new house at 2409 N. Terrace Avenue. As a longtime resident in the Historic North Point North I have been an advocate for the conservation of the character of our historic district. I welcome new housing and new neighbors to the area but the house, as currently planned, does not appear to meet the guidelines for the district for the following reasons: * Setback: The setbacks in this neighborhood are fairly consistent, varying by only a few feet. This building would interrupt that aesthetic flow and vision. * Design and Materials: The design and materials are industrial and are likely appropriate in other settings. Here, the houses are set close to each other, and this look is incompatible. Please ask the property owners to continue to work with the Commission to find a design and materials that reflect the rhythm and elements of the surrounding neighborhood. Thanks very much for your consideration. Dawn McCarthy North Point North Historic District 53211
