Paul,
Can you explain to me how one receives a
designation by a state as an architectural
historian.

Oh, yes. I
would suggest that he includes the buldings he has landmarked and any
sfholarly writing in the fireld of archiectural preservation. Also is he
recognized by any states as an architectural
historian?

Paul,
We are using Doug Nysee as our architect
and architectural historian. Doug can speak more specifically to his
qualifications, but Doug has substantial experience in both historical
renovations and the hospitality
industry.

Tom,
As I stated in my
e-mail below, you are not obligated to supply the information regarding
professional qualifications. However, the commission is free to ask.
The HPC does not solicit opinions from architectural historians. As staff
we are architectural historians. You are free to contact historians
if you wish including the national parks service (which placed the block on the
national register) and the national trust for historic
preservation.

Paul,
Thanks for the email. I just
have a couple of quick questions. First, does the ordinance require
us to address this point? Second, has HPC solicited the opinion of
an architectural historian to present a written opposition to our application
for the COA. Thanks.
Tom.

Thank you, Mr.
DeMuth. We will gladly and promptly enter them into the record and
share them with the preservation commission.
Since you are making a
case for demolition, how many and which of the individuals you refer to
are trained architectural historians (with a track record of scholarly
writing on the subject)? This would be valuable information for the
commission. Should you not want to supply this information, you are not
obligated, but I would ask for an e-mail response either
way.
Thank you for your
time.
Regards,
Paul

Paul,
Attached are some articles we would like
to be made part of the HPC file and posted as part of the electronic file you
have created.
When we met on November 18, 2010 you
stated you would contact me by November 24, 2010 if there were any other items
which you anticipated the members of HPC may want to review at the December 13,
2010 meeting. Since I have not received any additional correspondence from
you, I assume there is nothing else the members of HPC will need to vote on our
COA application on December 13, 2010.
