Subject: Marriott Proposal - Wisconsin Ave & Milwaukee St

Hello Bob,

I had read about the Marriott Hotel proposal and while supporting the development itself, I do have strong concerns about the location and the proposed removal of historic properties.

I am not sure if my opinion counts in the grand scheme of things, but if the project eventually moves forward, the preservation of faades should be the minimum acceptable option. The preservation and restoration of historic structures and street fronts is critical in cities such as ours. If the interiors of the buildings do not offer any significant value, then they can be removed; but, the faade should not be removed. There are plenty of new projects throughout the world which have preserved the street presence of existing buildings. Even a mediocre brick faade is more interesting and vibrant than plain glazing.

Thank you for your time,

Marcin Selm
