Books and No to Marriott
Mr. Bauman--
I am writing you to thank you for
taking a stand on saving Downtown Books. I am a frequent shopper there and a
former employee. I can honestly say that this bookstore is nationally known and
recognized as making a contribution to literacy and the public good by providing
inexpensive, used books from a wide range of subjects. Not only do they sell
books there, but also music, movies, art prints, and a number of text books and
magazines. This bookstore meets the need for an independent, inexpensive
bookstore. Also the building has been labeled as historic to preserve it for
history's sake, not until another developer who can afford to pay the high price
comes along! Please continue to take a stand against the sell and destruction of
a historic building that is centrally located and easily accessible for
Milwaukeeans in need of a place to buy books.
