| PLEASE NOTE: If action is taken on the following files, they may be heard at |
| the Public Improvements Committee at their regular meeting scheduled for |
| September 8, 2004. |
| ---This ordinance exempts the renaming of a street from the city's procedures |
| and guidelines for street renamings if: |
| 1. The renaming is initiated by the city; and |
| 2. The renaming is necessary to eliminate a threat to public safety, such as |
| but not limited to a situation where 2 streets have the same name and identical |
| addresses exist or could be created. |
| An ordinance changing the name of North Commerce Street between North |
| Weil Street and North Humboldt Avenue (at North Riverboat Road), in the 6th |
| Aldermanic District, to North Riverboat Road. |
| A substitute ordinance changing the name of West McKinley Avenue between |
| North 7th Street and North 9th Street to West McKinley Place (6th |
| Aldermanic District). |
| ---This name change is necessitated by the construction of a new McKinley |
| Avenue extending westerly from North 6th Street, along an alignment that is |
| south of the existing West McKinley Avenue, to the on-ramps to Interstate 43 |
| and Highway 145. |
| A substitute ordinance changing the names of portions of South 16th Street, |
| South 20th Street and West Pittsburgh Avenue to West Potawatomi Circle (8th |
| and 12th Aldermanic Districts). |

| ---This ordinance changes the names of South 16th Street (between West |
| Canal Street and West Pittsburgh Avenue), South 20th Street (between West |
| Canal Street and West Pittsburgh Avenue) and West Pittsburgh Avenue |
| (between South 16th Street and South 20th Street) to West Potawatomi Circle. |
| NOTE: a) Members of the Common Council, and members of its Standing Committees who are |
| not members of this Committee, may attend this meeting to participate or to gather information. |
| Therefore, notice is given that this meeting may constitute a meeting of the Common Council or |
| any of its Standing Committees, and must be noticed as such, although they will not take any |
| formal action at this meeting. |
