Minutes note: Chair Bohl gave a 30-minute overview and a PowerPoint presentation. There were 14 members of the public present.
Speakers:
1. Dr. Brian - humanity -- industrial activity in Milwaukee has lead to our education problems. The city needs to address matters in a diffferent way as we've been woefully inadequate. The community needs to be engaged. A superfund should be created funded by the rich industrial families to pay for this damage.
2. Terry Wiggins - Interfaith Earth Network - does support seeking state money to change lead pipes and would like that to be higher priority. She does not support running water for three minutes as that still doesn't guarantee the water will be lead-free and it wastes water. She believes the use of water filters and the timely replacement of filters is the solution.
3. Sylvia Wilds - 1333 S. 11th St. - she had 2 questions: Why does the lead pipe replacement project take so long -- spanning multiple decades; and Is there a correlation between lead and crime and how people make decisions.
Meeting adjourned: 10:00 A.M.
