Dr. Walter J. Lanier - Director of Men of Color Milwaukee Area Technical College
MATC's Men Of Color Initiative is designed to increase college couse completion rates, retention rates and graduation rates, as well as help MATC students to overcome barriers and obstacles that may rise as they pursue success in higher education.
Four keys Metrics include, Course Completion, Retention, Close equity gaps, Career planning, Graduation & program completion.
The key strategies include, build cohorts, Academic program strategy, Community collaboration,Student input, Aggressive data use, Health and wellness, Mentors & Role model Professional development;
also collaboration from the Black Male Achievement Advisory Council and My Brother's Keeper.

The Nonprofit Center is diligently working on My Brothers' Keeper priority 9 - Increase boys and men of color representation and participation in decision-making bodies and processes across all sectors.

The office of violence prevention is committed to the promotion and preservation of life through coordinated strategies to prevent death and nonfatal injury caused by violence.
Two initiatives currenlty in place by the office of the Violence Prevention are Trauma Response Initiative and Neighborhood Based violence Interruption; these initiatives are in partnerships with the Milwaukee Police Department, Wraparound Milwaukee's Mobile Urgent Treatment Team, and Uniting Garden Homes. In 2016 The Trauma Response Unit was initiated in collaboration withe MPD district 5 & & to identify youth who may have witnessed or experienced a potentially traumatic event such as a serious accident, shooting, or domestic violence. The Team received 223 referrals. The team was able to engage with 179 families.
In 2016 the Neighborhood Based vilence Prevention partnered with Uniting Garden Homes to implement Safe Zones Initiatives in the Garden Homes and Franklin Hights neighborhoods July-December. | | | |

The organization is on a mission to accomplish and creating well rounded citizens goal by recruiting qualified staff members (college students), mentoring/coaching youth athletes (3rd – 12th grade), hosting events and fundraisers and exposing youth to the possibilities of higher education.
