Minutes note: Two opportunities for participation along with the Milwaukee Public Library: Library's Teen Advisory Board Global Youth Service Day The MYC indicated it would like to make a permanent appointment to this board; members will notify MYC president of their interest and he will then formally select a member. As to the GYSD, they expressed an interest, but wanted more time to get past the holidays. It was aksed that if anyone interested in participating in the MPL event to notify city clerk know as soon as possible.

   4. Presentation by Common Council - City Clerk/License Division Relating to Municipal Identification Cards

Minutes note: Mr. Jason Schunk, License Division Manager appeared. In July of 2016, the Milwaukee Common Council passed an ordinance relating to the creation and issuance of a municipal identification (ID) card. For those individuals who live in the City of Milwaukee. This ID can not be used to vote in Wisconsin, you must be 14 years old or older to apply; minor must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, the fee is $10 and the replacement fee is $5.00 dollars. This ID card will expire in 5 years. Some benefits of the municipal ID program include: Improved access to public and private services increased sense of membership in the community among all residents improved community safety by making it easier for those without IDs to interact with authorities Mr. Schunk encouraged youth to come prepare for the next Youth Council meeting to obtain their municipal Id and experience the process from beginning to end so they can encourage, their peers and other members of the community they interact with, to participate in attaining a Municipal ID.

   5. Goals for the Upcoming Term

Minutes note: Council members offered areas of interests that they would like youth council efforts applied: 1. Cognitive behavioral therapy 2. Public panels within MPS schools to reduce public violence, segregation and incrase ingergration 3. Creation of 18 under 18 including banquet/scholarship 4. Creation of a Car theft #nofreerides/safe driving campaign 5. Cration and publication of a Newsletter 6. To repair/clean up of public parks/tot lots 7. Homeless shelters 8. Helping peers deal with stress 9. Students safety to/from school (bus drivers) for next meeting bring these topics in order of rank to be able to unite resouces available with other city departments and or other agencies and entities within our community.
