A number of Milwaukee area organizations, including Milwaukee Public Schools, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the City of Milwaukee have taken up the My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge, a national call to action from President Barack Obama to improve life outcomes for all young people. As part of meeting this challenge, the President of the United States has made the strengthening and expansion of mentoring opportunities a national imperative.
In response, local MBK supporters are developing an action plan to align community activities and initiatives to meet the goals of MBK. Part of that action plan is the development of a MILWAUKEE MENTOR NETWORK, a collaborative of area organizations providing mentor services to Milwaukee youth. Initiators of the Milwaukee Mentor Network include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee, Center for Youth Engagement, Community Advocates Public Policy Institute, City of Milwaukee, Center for Self Sufficiency and the Milwaukee Bucks Organization.

This is a program that has receive the support of BMAAC.
The Fellowship Open was founded in 2000 by a group of business and civic leaders, to promote and inspire youngsters to pursue careers in business and to foster support for diversity and inclusion in the business community. The events’ list of honorary chairs features some of Milwaukee’s most prominent professionals in business, government, and civic affairs. Each year, its ranks have grown with individuals that bring outstanding attributes and commitments to the community. Over the years, the Fellowship Open has contributed nearly $1 million to youth organizations, involving more than 70 organizations throughout Wisconsin.
The program includes a summer internship component, working with several Milwaukee companies to provide the Morehouse students with real-world job experience.
Program participants were present to offer testimony of their experience within the program.

De’Sahwn Ewing – Boys and Girls Club
The goal of Youth Works MKE is to link teens at risk of criminal involvement with subsidized jobs and supportive services including mentoring to increase employment skills and positive engagement while preventing participation in criminal and delinquent activities.
Employment with added support, mentoring, and connections to resources such as help getting a driver’s license is needed to stem the tide of youth violence currently being experienced in Milwaukee. Program is replicating a tested program model out of Chicago, One Summer Plus. The impact Youth Works MKE seeks to make is truly life-changing, building lasting improvements in outcomes for the youth in social-emotional learning and connection with employment and mentoring.
Community Advocates Public Policy Institute partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee to implement the pilot program. Between 25 and 40 low-income adolescents participated at Boys & Girls Club locations, where the youth work and are also linked with Social-Emotional Learning sessions.

Minutes note: Mr. Mike Williams is now the new Community Engagement and Achievement Director (CEAC).
The primary goal of the CEAC Director is to promote racial equity and inclusion in Milwaukee by Developing strong partnership between government agencies and officials, community and faith-based leaders and organizations, families, youth, funders, and others. Effective utilization of data by strengthening the City's efforts to document needs, target resources, assess the effectiveness of strategies and programs, and measure progress. Implementation of comprehensive strategies by fostering the development and advancement of new policies, programs and practices of scale in areas such as educational attainment, employment opportunities, family strengthening, and prevention of violence and violent-related deaths.
The CEAC Director will work with BMAAC and all community stakeholder to connect organizations and align resources to create an environment of success for fathers and boys and men of color and other populations of color.
