Minutes note: Ald. Bauman has received many complaints regarding parking along the event route. Assistant City Attorney Tom Miller stated DPW has 60 days to review the route and plan for traffic, distruption to residents, parking, police resources, etc. The City has not been made whole for the amount still owed for last year's event; $18,271 is still owed to the Police Department. Executive Director Chris Ponteri, Milwaukee Marathon, stated they will work closely with churches so the event is not an inconvienence. He assured that the City will be made whole for monies owed by July 15th, per the operating agreement. Tom Woznick, DPW Parking stated a change to City Ordinance in being drafted to allow DPW to move an illegally parked car to a legal parking place, to not have affected individuals towed to the Tow Lot. Ald. Bohl recommends communication and coordination with churches and residents regarding alternate routes and parking. He suggested reaching out to news outlets and information on the City's websites. He stated the police resources were on overtime and the event pays the overtime rate for the police resources.
