   4. My Brothers Keeper Action Plan

Minutes note: Ald. Hamilton started by saying that a lot of the activities and effort of the BMAAC is guided by the National My Brother’s Keeper movement. Dr. Irby said that he is very excited with the plan that’s coming together. He believes that it will be the best plan by leaps and bound in the country. In comparison to viewing other plans of the same nature and his experience in Milwaukee, Dr. Irby thinks there is a lot of energy, good ideas, and a lot of assets in the community with great potential. He has been compiling all the potential into a frame work towards the goal of making boys and men of color, specifically, black males sustainable. The report is being writing based on a model of continuous improvement which entails organizational theory that helps an organization to continue improve itself. The Goals are based on incremental continuous learning opportunities for the community and the ability to meet small goals (smart goals). There is a five year plan (matrix or model) that most participants would start with mapping a list of the access to organization that work with black males. MBK objectives aligned (wiich are the strategies that the BMAAC put together) with My Brother’s Keeper’s goal. During the five years plan everything should be sustainable in order to be able to do the work. We could look at MBK as a window of opportunities. The report is framing Milwaukee’s goals as more important than My Brother’s Keeper initiative. Using the MBK initiative is a policy window to organize and determine what has worked. The report will be on a PDF format addressing different audiences and centered on black males. It will also have a google survey feature embedded throughout the document. Dr. Irby hopes that everyone in Milwaukee regarding black male achievement has access to this report and that the philanthropic community can contribute with put their input and efforts. The final piece of the report is an evaluation plan which continuous improvement is all about monitoring progress. The goal is to have the report ready by October 9, 2015 Mr. Davidson asked in what ways BMAAC members or the health department can help speed up the process for the final report. Dr. Irby said that at this point there a few things to put together before can ask for further assistance. BMAAC members asked questions regarding the report and offered their assistance in providing additional data for the report to Dr. Irby.

   5. My Brothers Keeper Summit Recaps

Minutes note: Ald. Stamper thanked Ms. Robinson, Mr. Mahan , Mr. Crump for their efforts in helping him put together a very successful My Brother’s Keeper Summit this summer. It was attended by over five hundred people. There were about fifty resource tables. There were great speakers with powerful messages for the youth. It was a great opportunity for everyone to network. There will be a video release in the near future of the event. Ald. Stamper thanked everyone who participated in the summit. The Black Male Collaborative hosted the “300 Strong Rally Saturday to launch its efforts to offer support and mentorship to 300 young black men through the coming school year and beyond. Ms. Robinson said there were one hundred sixty four attendees that took the survey; it was cleared was a successes. Ald. Hamilton urged all members to continue supporting the efforts and initiatives of the BMAAC.

   6. BMAAC and Proposed 2016 Budget Impacts

Minutes note: Ms. Terry Perry informed the members of a $150,000 dollars budget item from the Mayor's office to vcover the cost of two newstaff; Youth Manager and Program coordinator for the program called Building a Framework for a Community-Informed Youth Development and Violence Prevention Plan. The mission of this plan is to reduce youth violence and promote healthy youth development by uniting area leaders, partner agencies and the community in pursuing a comprehensive prevention, intervention, enforcement and re-entering strategy. The vision of this plan is to create a Milwaukee that is safe for every child and young adult. The creating and implementing this plan will develop a full scale, long-term plan to prevent youth violence in Milwaukee for people ages birth to 24 with well-defined benchmarks. The plan will use evidence-based, multi- disciplinary strategies develop by a cross-sector, cross-cultural team.

   7. Community Engagement and Achievement Collaborative

Minutes note: Ms. Robinson said that the Community Engagement and Achievement Collaborative (CEAC) will provide the human capital and infrastructure needed to advance Black Male Achievement Advisory Council (BMAAC), My Brother’s Keeper (MKB), and racial equity and inclusion goals through citywide collaboration. The Director will work with BMAAC and all community stakeholders to connect organizations and align resources to create an environment of success for fathers and boys and men of color and other populations of color. The CEAC will promote racial equity and inclusion and enhance local capacity to improve life outcomes of boys and men of color and other populations of color through Development of Strong Partnerships, Effective Utilization of data, and Implementation of comprehensive Strategies.
