| | 4. | | City resident question regarding the reporting of investments on statements of economic
interest.
Minutes note: Chair Michael Kruse addressed a city resident's question about reporting of investments on the Statements of Economic Interest (SEI).
The discussion focused on Part 3 of the form, which requires listing stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.
Chair Michael Kruse and Member Bradley Kalscheur clarified that the key factor is "direction." If a person has direct control over trading individual stocks, they must be specifically designated. Generalized funds, such as a Fidelity target-date retirement fund where the individual has no control over what is bought or sold, do not require the same level of specific detail.
The Ethics Board recommended that the resident review Part 3 of the Statement of Economic Interest (SEI) instruction form for further clarity. | | | |
