Title

Analysis

This ordinance provides that no shooting gallery license shall be required for a shooting range located on premises owned or operated by the United States, state of Wisconsin, Milwaukee county or city of Milwaukee and used for professional training purposes.  It also repeals a provision prohibiting the firing of high-powered rifles on any shooting premises, as that provision is not authorized by or consistent with state statutes.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1.  Section 105-39-1 of the code is amended to read:

105-39.  Regulations for Shooting Galleries (Firearms).

1.  LICENSE REQUIRED.  No premises shall be used or permitted to be used, leased or hired as a shooting gallery or place to practice target shooting, wherein firearms shall be discharged >>,<< without being duly licensed therefor.  >>No license shall be required for a shooting range located on premises owned or operated

by the United States, state of Wisconsin, Milwaukee county or city of Milwaukee and used for professional training purposes.<<

Part 2.  Section 105-41-8 of the code is repealed.

(Note:  The provision being repealed reads as follows:

105-41.  Specifications.

8.  HIGH-POWERED RIFLES.  The firing of high-powered rifles shall not be permitted on any shooting premises.)
