Title

Substitute resolution relating to the expenditure of funds from the Grocery Store Retention Fund for the purpose of healthy food access.

Analysis

This resolution allocates $400,000 from the Grocery Store Retention Fund to support the activities of the Healthy Food Establishment Fund.

 

Body

Whereas, The 2026 Budged provided $100,000 of funding for the Healthy Food Establishment Fund in the Health Department; and

 

Whereas, Common Council File 251678, adopted on February 10, 2026 authorized the acceptance of settlement funds arising from Multi-District Litigation No. 2:18-mn-2873 and directed $1.8 million of settlement funds to be allocated to a Grocery Store Retention Fund in the Office of the City Clerk; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Clerk is directed to allocate $400,000 of funding in the Grocery Store Retention Fund to support the activities of the Healthy Food Establishment Fund; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish the necessary accounts and accounting procedures to carry out the intent of this resolution.
