This resolution designates Power Hour networking events as official City events.
Body
Whereas, Power Hour networking events provide opportunities for young Milwaukee professionals to come together to network, build relationships and strengthen their communities; and
Whereas, The inaugural Power Hour networking event took place on February 28, 2023, where attendees also participated in the City’s 7th Annual Black History Month program, entitled “Living Legends”, which celebrated key Milwaukee Black History makers; and
Whereas, The inaugural event was followed by a second event on May 18, 2023, and was hosted by Common Council members Milele A. Coggs, Mark Chambers, Jr., Khalif J. Rainey, Russell W. Stamper, II, Lamont Westmoreland, Andrea M. Pratt and Larresa Taylor; and
Whereas, The remaining 2023 Power Hour networking events will take place on September 14 and December 7 in the City Hall rotunda; and
Whereas, Sponsors of previous Power Hour events have included Molson Coors, Summerfest, the African-American Chamber of Commerce, Saz’s Hospitality Group, WeExist, and the Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet; and
Whereas, The event is free and open to the public, who are invited to attend and discuss ideas about how to make Milwaukee a better place; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council designates Power Hour networking events as official City events; and, be it
Further Resolved, That all City departments are directed to assist as necessary to make Power Hour networking events successful.
