Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of the 2022-23 Wisconsin Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health services.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the 2022-23 Wisconsin Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education Collective Action Initiative grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $20,000 with a City share of $0 and a grantor share of $20,000. The funding will provide support for a Public Health Strategist position. This position will aid nutrition education programming, community gardens and urban agriculture. The Public Health Strategist will also provide support for healthy food retail in existing and new businesses, city policy, zoning and practice, healthy food financing initiatives, creation of a community commercial kitchen, resident leadership and engagement, as well as other things.

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health to increase access to and consumption of healthy foods; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 10/1/2022 to 9/30/2023 will cost $20,000 comprised of $20,000, or 100% grantor share and $0, or 0% City share; now, therefore, be it;

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, that the Commissioner of Health or their designee is authorized to execute the grant agreement for these funds; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
