Title

Resolution relating to the application for a Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Community Development Investment Grant for an eligible entity.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to apply for a Community Development Investment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. The purpose of the grant is to support transformational local development projects.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) is eligible to nominate a project for grant funds from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (“WEDC”); and

 

Whereas, The implementation of this Community Development Investment Grant will result in additional financing to assist a local development project that will be selected by the City; and

 

Whereas, The City will consider the ability for applicant projects to begin construction in 2023 and to facilitate the implementation of previously adopted area plans; and

 

Whereas, The benefits to the City from this grant project appear to exceed the City's obligations to be incurred under this grant; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City is able to apply for a Community Development Investment Grant from WEDC; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials and/or the Commissioner of the Department of City Development are directed to enter into any contracts or agreements, with the approval of the City Attorney’s Office, to carry out the purpose and intent of this resolution and project.
