Title

Analysis
This resolution implements the footnote contained in amendment 39A to the 2023 Proposed Budget by requesting the reallocation of $1 million of ARPA funding to the Department of Public Works - Infrastructure Services Division’s High Impact Paving Program.
Body

Whereas, The City has just over 900 miles of local streets; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works’ request for the 2023 Budget included $8,000,000 for the High Impact Paving Program; and

Whereas, The 2023 Adopted Budget includes $7,000,000 for the High Impact Paving Program; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works estimates that the funding provided in the 2023 Budget for the High Impact Paving Program will improve 17.7 miles of streets; and

Whereas, The addition of $1 million to the High Impact Paving Program will allow for the improvement of approximately 2 additional miles of streets; and

Whereas, On June 21, 2022, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 211910, creating the ARPA Funding Allocation Task Force; and

Whereas, Amendment 39A to the 2023 Budget inserted the following footnote, “A request shall be made to the ARPA Task Force to allocate $1 million from either first tranche ARPA reallocation or from the second tranche ARPA allocation to the DPW High Impact Paving Program,”; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the ARPA Funding Allocation Task force is requested to reallocate $1 million of ARPA funding to the Department of Public Works - Infrastructure Services Division’s High Impact Paving Program; and be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to establish the necessary accounts and accounting procedures to carry out the intent of this resolution.
