Whereas, The Adopted 2023 City Budget included Amendment 20A, a footnote directing the Library to collaborate with the Office of Violence Prevention on changes to Library operations, programming and partnerships that incorporate and promote the work of the Office of Violence Prevention; and

Whereas, The Office of Violence Prevention provides strategic direction and oversight for City efforts to reduce the risk of violence through partnerships with government, non-profit, neighborhood and faith organizations; and

Whereas, Many city communities have a positive image of the Library and consider the services provided by the Library as vital to the community’s success; and

Whereas, The Library provides programming aimed at some of the city’s most vulnerable communities; and

Whereas, It is expected the Library programming developed in collaboration with the Office of Violence Prevention will be effective in promoting the work of the Office of Violence Prevention; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Library is directed to collaborate with the Office of Violence Prevention on changes to Library operations, programming and partnerships that incorporate and promote the work of the Office of Violence Prevention; and, be it
