Analysis

This resolution approves and adopts the Agency Safety Plan for The Hop MKE Streetcar dated August 2022 (Version 5).

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns and operates The Hop MKE streetcar public transit system through its Department of Public Works (DPW); and

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is committed to developing, implementing, maintain and continuously improving processes to ensure the safety of The Hop customers, employees, and the public; and

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is obligated to comply with various federal regulations as a condition of federal grant funding used for construction and operations of The MKE Hop streetcar system including Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations 49 CFR Part 673 and Part 674 that require the City of Milwaukee to establish an Agency Safety Plan (ASP); and

 

Whereas, The Agency Safety Plan (ASP) for The Hop MKE Streetcar has been developed to establish policies and procedures to ensure the safety of passengers, employees and the public and to address the requirements of regulations 49 CFR Part 673 and Part 674; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Agency Safety Plan (ASP) for The Hop MKE Streetcar dated August 2022 (Version 5) is hereby approved and adopted as policy; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That DPW is directed to implement and comply with the ASP during The MKE Hop operations.
