Title

Resolution approving a Lease between Wisconsin Center District, as landlord, and the City of Milwaukee, as tenant, for 400 West Wisconsin Avenue, for election-related purposes for the November 2022 general election, in the 4th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into a lease with the owner of 400 West Wisconsin Avenue so that the City, as a short-term tenant, may use the parcel for election-related purposes for the November 2022 General Election.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”), pursuant to Common Council File No. 200386, leased the property at 501 West Michigan Street on a short-term basis for election-related purposes throughout 2020, allowing City personnel and volunteers to adhere to precautionary measures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic; and

 

Whereas, The City Election Commission would now like to similarly lease the property at 400 West Wisconsin Avenue (the “Property”) from the Wisconsin Center District on a short-term basis for similar election-related purposes as the City’s Central Count operation; and

 

Whereas, The general election will take place on November 8, 2022; and

 

Whereas, Wisconsin Center District and the City’s Department of City Development negotiated the Lease that was submitted to this file to cover and surround the November 2022 election, specifically from November 7 through November 9, 2022; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Lease, as submitted to this file, is hereby approved, and the City and its representatives are authorized to enter into the Lease on terms and conditions materially in conformance therewith and to take such actions, as may be needed, to effectuate the terms of the Lease and this resolution.
