Title

Resolution approving a Lease between American Serb Hall, as landlord, and the City of Milwaukee, as tenant, for 5101 West Oklahoma Avenue, for use as an early voting site for the November 2022 general election, in the 11th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into a lease with the owner of 5101 West Oklahoma Avenue so that the City of Milwaukee, as a short-term tenant, may use the parcel for early voting purposes for the November 2022 general election.

Body

Whereas, To better serve the community, the City of Milwaukee (“City”) utilizes a number of early voting sites, including Milwaukee Public Library branches across the City, prior to an election; and

 

Whereas, The next general election will take place on November 8, 2022; and

 

Whereas, The City Election Commission chooses to provide a larger early voting site on the south side of the City to meet early voting demands; and

 

Whereas, American Serb Hall and the City’s Department of City Development negotiated a Lease that was submitted to this file to cover the short-term period from October 24 through November 6, 2022, prior to the November 2022 election; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Lease, as submitted to this file, is hereby approved, and the City and its representatives are authorized to enter into the Lease on terms and conditions materially in conformance therewith and to take such actions, as may be needed, to effectuate the terms of the Lease and this resolution.
