Title

Resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement with the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System relative to the provision of professional services to the City.

Analysis

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the Chief of Police to enter into an agreement with the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System relative to the provision of professional services to the City.

Body

Whereas, the Police Department is desirous of obtaining the professional services of Leah Arndt, Ph.D and Stephen Wester, Ph.D to research and develop a “best practices” protocol for addressing suicides within MPD; and

 

Whereas, The Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System, on behalf of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, is willing to provide to the City the professional services of Doctors Arndt and Wester; and

 

Whereas, Collaboration between the University and the City is an appropriate and desirable means to accomplish the goals of the City regarding these professional services; and

 

Whereas, An agreement between the City and the Board of Regents has been drafted and is attached to this file, specifying the services to be provided by the University without cost, unless grant funds become available; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Chief of Police be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement on behalf of the City between the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System and the City, which agreement will be in substantially the same form as the drafted agreement attached to this file, which is approved.
