Analysis

Currently, one of the duties of the arts board is promoting the formation and growth of artistic projects or programs that are administered by, and responsive to, the needs of the city's racial and ethnic minorities. This ordinance amends this duty to apply to the city’s communities that have been historically underrepresented and underserved on basis of race, ethnicity, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography or citizenship status.

In addition, under this ordinance, the arts board shall submit its report to the common council and the mayor annually instead of quarterly.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 320-12-2-c of the code is amended to read:

320-12. Arts Board.
