Minutes note: Mike Amsdem and Gabriel Ipkeme from DPW explained that there are three applications: -One that involves improving the lighting at 68 intersections. -Another one in conjunction with MMSD that is happening along the KK river from 6th St and 16th St for a future trail (bike and walking path). -And a recommendation to promote sustainable transportation trips.

Analysis
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting applications to utilize funding under the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program. The Department of Public Works is applying for funding for three projects. Successful grant applications will be funded with an 80 percent grantor share and a 20 percent local share.

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting project applications for funding in fiscal years 2022-2026 under the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program; and

Whereas, Projects approved for the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program will be funded with an 80 percent grantor share and 20 percent local share; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has identified three projects for infrastructure related improvements; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has submitted applications for the following projects:

1. KK River Trail Extension (Pulaski Park)
2. Street Lighting Improvements at Ped High Injury Locations
3. Milwaukee Citywide Mobility Plan
; and

Whereas, The total estimated cost of these projects is $1,794,903.13 with a grantor share of $1,435,922.50 and a local share of $358,980.63;

Whereas, A local resolution of support for the proposed projects must be executed and submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation prior to April 18, 2022; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Engineer is authorized to submit applications to the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program for the following projects:

1. KK River Trail Extension (Pulaski Park)
2. Street Lighting Improvements at Ped High Injury Locations
