Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a Seat Belt Enforcement 2021-22 grant.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Seat Belt Enforcement grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in the amount of $124,500 of which $99,600 is being provided by the grantor and $24,900 would be provided by the City and its partners as a soft match. The purpose of this grant is to encourage seat belt enforcement in areas with low seat belt usage.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #20.616 the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Seat Belt Enforcement grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/01/2021 to 09/30/2022 would cost $124,500 of which $99,600 will be provided by the Grantor and $24,900 will be provided as a Local Match by the MPD and its partners; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that acceptance and funding of a Seat Belt Enforcement grant is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code Ordnances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2021 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: 2021-2022 Seat Belt Enforcement Grant:
