Title

Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the 2020 -2021 Upper Midwest Regional Accelerators for Genomic Surveillance Grant from the Rockefeller Foundation and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the 2021 - 2021 Upper Midwest Regional Accelerators for Genomic Surveillance Grant from Rockefeller Foundation and University of Wisconsin-Madison in the amount of $25,846 100% grantor share with no city match. The purpose of the grant is to focus on conducting genomic surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 in the school-aged children population to better understand the emergence and spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Rockefeller Foundation and University of Wisconsin-Madison to focus on conducting genomic surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 in the school-aged children population to better understand the emergence and spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants; and

 

Whereas, The continued operation of this grant program from 06.01.2021 to 05.31.2022 would cost $25,846 100% grantor share with no city match; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application of this grant from the Rockefeller Foundation and University of Wisconsin-Madison is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent of the 2021 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the program titled Upper Midwest Regional Accelerators for Genomic Surveillance Grant:

2.                     Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement; and, be it

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

1.                     Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and

 

 

Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2020 Positions Ordinance C.C. File Number 200537, should be amended as follows:
