Title:

Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant (Police Department).

 

Analysis:                     

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, in the amount of $482,042 with a grantor share of $175,497 and a city share of $306,545. The purpose of the project is to reduce the volume of controlled substances in the Milwaukee Area. This is a continuing grant that continues to fund a portion of the salaries, fringe benefits, and indirect costs of one Sergeant position and two Police Officer positions.  

 

Body:

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant in the amount of $482,042; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021 would cost $482,042 of which, $175,497 would be provided by the grantor and $306,545 would be provided by the city; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of this grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2021 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled “Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant”:

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the 2021 Positions Ordinance be amended as follows to reflect the change in footnote (N):
