Analysis

This resolution urges Oshkosh Defense to build the Next Generation Delivery Vehicles for the U.S. Postal Service at the Century City Business Park.

Body

Whereas, Oshkosh Defense was recently awarded a contract to build 50,000 to 165,000 Next Generation Delivery Vehicles for the U.S. Postal Service over the next decade; and

 

Whereas, While engineering, development and production for these vehicles is expected to be conducted in Oshkosh, WI, Oshkosh Defense is considering other locations for assembly; and

 

Whereas, The logistics at the Century City Business Park - its proximity to Oshkosh and its location within a well-structured transportation grid - as well as its ready access to a plentiful, assembly-skilled workforce, make Century City an ideal partner to efficiently deliver the vehicles assembled for Oshkosh Defense to the many U.S. Postal Service locations where they will be put to use; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City of Milwaukee urges Oshkosh Defense to build the Next Generation Delivery Vehicles for the U.S. Postal Service at the Century City Business Park; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Clerk shall send a certified copy of this resolution to Mr. John Pfiefer, President and Chief Operating Officer of Oshkosh Defense; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Clerk shall send a certified copy of this resolution to Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, and to each member of the City of Milwaukee's delegation to both the Wisconsin Legislature and the U.S. Congress.
