This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept  a donation from the Association of Public Health Laboratories of Silver Spring, MD, of a ThermoFisher Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast DX Real-Time PCR Instrument with desktop computer, with an estimated value of $65,000.

Whereas, The ThermoFisher Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast DX Real-Time PCR Instrument with desktop computer is a real-time nucleic acid amplification and five-color fluorescence detection system available for in vitro diagnostic use; and

 

Whereas, Use of the ThermoFisher Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast DX Real-Time PCR Instrument will allow safe and efficient specimen-processing for COVID-19 testing by the Health Department; and

 

Whereas, Section 304-24 of the Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and

 

Whereas, The Association of Public Health Laboratories of Silver Spring, MD, proposes to donate a ThermoFisher Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast DX Real-Time PCR Instrument with desktop computer, with an estimated value of $65,000, to the Health Department; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department is authorized to accept a donation from the Association of Public Health Laboratories of Silver Spring, MD, of a ThermoFisher Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast DX Real-Time PCR Instrument with desktop computer, with an estimated value of $65,000.
