Title
Resolution approving the acceptance, on behalf of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, of a quitclaim deed from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for property located adjacent to the Lancaster School, 4931 North 68th Street, in the 2nd Aldermanic District.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City to accept, on behalf of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors (“MPS”), a quitclaim deed for property currently owned by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (“WISDOT”). WISDOT acquired the property to be conveyed after the vacation of an alley via Common Council File Number 191561 and has agreed to convey for the benefit of MPS

Body
Whereas, on May 27 2020, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee passed Common Council File Number 191561, which, and MPS’ request, vacated the alley adjoining the Lancaster School to the southwest; and

Whereas, MPS requested the alley vacation in order to make improvements to the parking lot at Lancaster School; and

Whereas, As a result of the vacation, half of the real property under the alley reverted to the City of Milwaukee on behalf of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, and the other half reverted to WISDOT; and

Whereas, WISDOT has agreed to convey, via the quitclaim deed attached to this file, the half of the alley it received as the result of the vacation to MPS to allow MPS to improve the parking lot; and

Whereas, Pursuant to Wis. Stat. 119.16(3) the City holds title to all of MPS’ school facilities on MPS’ behalf; and

Whereas, On June 25, 2020, the Milwaukee Board of School Directors passed a resolution approving the acquisition from WISDOT; now, therefore, be it
