Lewis moved to amend the file to direct that, in addition to creation and reporting of a policy within 3 months, the Department of Employee Relations and the Department of Public Works work together to rectify employee separations and card access deactivations on a quarterly basis and to report to the Common Council on the implementation of those efforts and the policy on an annual basis. This resolution directs the Department of Employee Relations and the Department of Public Works to develop and implement a policy for rectifying employee separations and deactivation of employee badges upon termination of City employment.
Body
Whereas, Controlling access to City facilities is an essential component to promoting a safe, comfortable work environment for the City’s employees and public servants; and

Whereas, No Milwaukee residents or employees should fear that confidential materials on file with the City may be accessed by unauthorized individuals; and

Whereas, Protecting City property and assets is the best way to ensure efficient and cost-effective services for Milwaukee residents; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council directs the Department of Employee Relations and the Department of Public Works to develop and implement a policy for rectifying employee separations and deactivation of employee badges upon termination of City employment; and be it

Further Resolved, That the Department of Employee Relations and the Department of Public Works compare and rectify separations and deactivations of employee badges accordingly on a quarterly basis as part of the policy; and be it

Further Resolved, That the Department of Employee Relations and the Department of Public Works present this policy to the Common Council within 3 months of adoption of this resolution; and be it
