This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library to accept and use funds from a Fund for Lake Michigan grant to support the installation of green infrastructure at Milwaukee Public Library branch parking lots and grounds.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has adopted a comprehensive Green Infrastructure Plan to help Milwaukee adapt to climate change impacts and create a more resilient City; and

Whereas, the Green Infrastructure plan outlines several solutions that this project will provide and support, including rain gardens, permeable pavers, bio-swales, native plantings, and community engagement education spaces.

Whereas, The Milwaukee Public Library, a City of Milwaukee agency is eligible for grant funds from the Fund for Lake Michigan to enhance several Library parking lots, which are to be replaced to meet ADA standards, and enhanced with green infrastructure elements; and

Whereas, The installation of green infrastructure at five Milwaukee Public Library branches will reduce urban storm water runoff, enhancing the health of Milwaukee and Lake Michigan, and create outdoor community engagement spaces to educate about green ideas; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/2020 to 11/01/2020 would cost $125,000.00 of which $125,000.00 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Public Library shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
