Whereas, Thermo Fischer Scientific Milwaukee LLC (“Thermo Fischer”) owns certain manufacturing property located in the City; and
Whereas, Thermo Fischer’s manufacturing property is assessed by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (“WDOR”); and
Whereas, the City of Milwaukee levies and collects tax on Thermo Fischer’s property based on the WDOR’s assessments; and
Whereas, Thermo Fischer has made a request to have the assessments of its manufacturing property reduced by a significant amount; and
Whereas, There is a potential for negative financial impact to the City of Milwaukee if unjustified assessment reductions occur on Thermo Fischer’s manufacturing property; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Attorney is authorized to file any necessary paper work to intervene or otherwise become a party in litigation involving Thermo Fischer and the WDOR and to oppose Thermo Fischer’s request for any unjustified assessment reduction of its manufacturing property.
