Title

Substitute resolution authorizing the Department of Employee Relations to amend the contract with Froedtert Workforce Health.

 Analysis

This resolution authorizes an amendment to the current Froedtert Workforce Health contract to include Occupational Health services for the City of Milwaukee commencing at the time the City’s current occupational health provider contract expires.

 Body

Whereas, Common Council File Number 181717 authorized a contract extension with Froedtert Workforce Health through December 31, 2022 to provide the City’s Wellness Programming and onsite Clinic services; and

Whereas, The City’s current contract for occupational health services which includes pre-employment medical exams and pre and post-employment drug screenings is expiring; and

Whereas, The City’s needs and priorities for occupational health services have shifted and the City is looking for expanded services in this area including job analysis and evaluation; and

Whereas, The City currently has a successful and trusted working partnership with Froedtert Workforce Health and has determined that Froedtert has a high level of expertise and experience in the occupational health services area, a competitive fee schedule and the professional capacity to meet and expand the City’s pre-employment services; and

Whereas, Froedtert Occupational Health will be able to capitalize on the existing synergies with the City’s comprehensive wellness program including pre-employment medical exams designed to identify interventions to prevent and mitigate workplace injuries by enhancing screening mechanisms used at the time of hire; and

Whereas, Froedtert Occupational Health will be able to collaborate with Froedtert Workforce Health to implement targeted employee initiatives (stretching programs, training, etc) to increase worker safety; and

Whereas Froedtert Occupational Health has centralized local management with medical director oversight of all clinic services, 75 years of occupational medicine experience and the full resources of Froedtert and the Medical Colleges; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Employee Relations is authorized to amend the contract with Froedtert Workforce Health to include occupational health services at the time the City’s current occupational health services provider contract expires.
