This resolution authorizes the City Clerk to expend up to $2,200 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account for the May 25, 2019, Heal the Hood event.
Body
Whereas, The City’s 2019 Budget provides $50,000 in funding for a new MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account (“SPA”); and
Whereas, The purpose of this SPA is to provide resources to support community events that promote peace and violence prevention, with the intention that allocations from the SPA will be matched by contributions from local organizations; and
Whereas, Heal the Hood MKE was identified as a recipient of funding from the MKE Community Excellence Fund in the 2019 Budget; and
Whereas, Heal the Hood MKE is a local campaign that since 2012 has worked to promote leadership, anti-violence and unity through neighborhood events, in-school curriculums and workshops; and
Whereas, The Heal the Hood MKE block party events bring neighbors together for food, music and children’s activities as part of an outreach campaign to promote self-sustainability, positivity and nonviolence in Milwaukee neighborhoods; and
Whereas, The City has received more than $2,200 in donations earmarked for support of the May 25, 2019, Heal the Hood event; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Clerk is directed to expend up to $2,200 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account (0001 1310 S246 006300) for payment or reimbursement of expenses related to the May 25, 2019, Heal the Hood event.
