Ald. Wade says that he will ask the police captains for his district to help keep the use of the boxes for citizens in the area. He says that currently the boxes are being filled up by contractors working in the area, not by residents. Ald. Davis recommends to Mr. Mahan that there be a communication file introduced so this issue can be addressed in front of the Public Works Committee. Ald. Witkowiak says that legislation could be created to impose heavy fines on non-residents who use the boxes for their own purposes.	Pass	5:0

Analysis
The resolution allocates the additional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds received for the 2009 program year in the amount of $39,413.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee was initially notified by HUD that the 2009 CDBG award amount was $16,850,642; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee recently received an additional notification from HUD stating that the 2009 CDBG award would be $16,890,055 resulting in an increase in the amount of $39,413; and

Whereas, The Community and Economic Development Committee recommends approval to allocate the additional 2009 CDBG funding in the amount of $39,413 to the Department of Public Works for the Targeted Weekend Box Neighborhood Program; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the award as stated above is approved for the Department of Public Works; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Community Development Grants Administration is responsible for awarding a subrecipient contract for these approved activities; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the subrecipient organizations shall submit budget and activity reports in amounts and according to any conditions approved by the Common Council and in accordance with File Number 74-92-5v, to the Community Development Grants Administration and the City Comptroller for review and approval; and, be it

Further Resolved, That payments for CDBG cost incurred shall be paid in accordance with approved CDBG reimbursement policy based on the approval by the Community Development Grants Administration and the City Comptroller; and, be it
