Title
Resolution authorizing the issuance of a street occupancy permit to Peridot Construction for construction activities at 2900 North Oakland Avenue, in the 3rd Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes City officials to issue an occupancy permit to Peridot Construction allowing them to occupy the entire roadway except for the south sidewalk of East Locust Street from North Oakland Avenue east to the north-south alley in order to use a crane to remove spancrete from trucks.
Body
Whereas, Peridot Construction has been contracted for construction services at 2900 North Oakland Avenue; and
Whereas, Peridot Construction had previously requested to occupy the northern sidewalk, parking lane, and traffic lane on East Locust Street beginning December 10, 2018 through December 16, 2018; and
Whereas, Permission for closure of the sidewalk, parking lane, and traffic lane on the north side of East Locust Street was granted under Common Council Resolution File Number 181121; and
Whereas, The aforementioned work has been rescheduled to coincide with the break between semesters at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee; and
Whereas, Peridot Construction determined that a larger crane would be required to do the work, which requires that the entire roadway be closed; and
Whereas, Peridot Construction is requesting permission to occupy the entire roadway of East Locust Street, except for the south sidewalk, between North Oakland Avenue and the north-south alley east of North Oakland Avenue beginning on or around January 2, 2019 through January 12, 2019; and
Whereas, Peridot Construction will maintain the south sidewalk; and
Whereas, Peridot Construction will be responsible to contact all affected property owners and businesses informing them of the closure and the affected dates; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one-third of the width of the right of way while temporary use beyond that point must be approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue an occupancy permit to Peridot Construction allowing them to occupy the northern sidewalk, parking lane, and traffic lane of East Locust Street to start on or about January 2, 2019 through January 12, 2019.
