Title

Resolution approving a lease with Harbor District Inc., for a portion of the east end of East Greenfield Avenue right of way and a portion of the property at 401 East Greenfield Avenue, in the 12th Aldermanic District.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes a lease for City right of way and a City-owned property according to conditions outlined in the lease.

 

Body

Whereas, staff from the Department of Public Works, Port Milwaukee, and the City Attorney’s office have met with representatives from Harbor District Inc. and negotiated the terms of a long-term lease for a portion of the east end of East Greenfield Avenue right of way and a portion of the property at 401 East Greenfield Avenue, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council file; and

 

Whereas, Harbor District Inc. desires to create improvements within a portion of the east end of East Greenfield Avenue right of way and a portion of the property at 401 East Greenfield Avenue, as shown in the attached conceptual plan; and

 

Whereas, The proposed lease permits Harbor District Inc., or BID 51 as assignee, to program activities in the leased area in consideration of assuming maintenance responsibilities of improvements; and

 

Whereas, The proposed lease will facilitate greater use of and activities in the leased area, ensure continued public access, and establish maintenance requirements while helping to reduce municipal expenditures; now, therefore be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the lease with Harbor District Inc. for a portion of the east end of East Greenfield Avenue right of way and a portion of the property at 401 East Greenfield Avenue, is approved; and be it

 

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized to execute the lease with Harbor District Inc.; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Attorney’s office is authorized to make minor modifications to said lease that are consistent with the intent and purpose of this resolution.
