Analysis

This ordinance provides that certain overtime hours worked by a full-time department of public works employee during an emergency call-out for snow and ice operations or water main repairs shall be considered as straight-time for the purposes of pension calculation.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1.  Section 350-3-5.5-b of the code is renumbered as 350-3-5.5-c.

 

Part 2.  Section 350-3-5.5-b is created to read:

 

350-3.  Uniform Overtime Policies. 

 

5.5.  EMERGENCY OVERTIME WORK.

b. Pension-eligible Overtime Hours.  Effective November 1, 2017, the city comptroller shall report overtime hours worked due to an emergency call-out for snow and ice operations or water main repairs to the employes’ retirement system.  Up to a maximum of 80 straight-time hours at straight-time rates of pay shall be reported in pay periods in which an eligible department of public works employee is compensated for less than eighty (80) straight-time hours due to work performed as a result of an emergency call-out.
