Title:

Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors in connection with the School Security Program.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement  with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors in the amount of $478,142.  Under this Agreement, the Milwaukee Police Department shall assign 12 officers to work as School Resource Officers (SRO’s) in the School Security Program during the 2016/17 school year.

 

The Milwaukee Board of School Directors shall reimburse the City for actual salaries, fringe benefits, and overtime, plus indirect costs of 6 of the SRO’s.

                        

BODY:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible to enter into an agreement with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors in connection with the School Security Program; and

                                          

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee may enter into an intergovernmental cooperation agreement with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors; and

 

Whereas, The Police Department may enter into agreements exceeding $50,000 that have been approved by the Chief of Police as indicated in Section 312-26, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and

 

Whereas, The period of this agreement from 09/01/16 to 6/09/17 would  fund $478,142 towards the salaries, fringe benefits, indirect costs and overtime of six officers; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the attached agreement with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors  is approved, and, be it

                                          

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized to sign the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.
