Substitute resolution authorizing acceptance and expenditure of a 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes acceptance and expenditure of a 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, through Milwaukee County.

Body:
Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, through Milwaukee County for an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Grant; and

Whereas, The purpose of this grant is to fund purchases for various initiatives and projects; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 01/01/16 - 09/30/19 would cost $410,028 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; and now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2016 Special Revenue -Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the program titled: 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant:
