Resolution directing the Department of Public Works, Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of City Development, and Milwaukee Water Works to jointly formulate a workforce development plan for work related to water-service line replacement and to rehabilitation, demolition, and deconstruction of City-owned properties.

Analysis

This resolution directs the Department of Public Works, Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of City Development, and Milwaukee Water Works to work together to jointly formulate a workforce development plan relating to the hiring of workers for water-service line replacement and for rehabilitation, demolition, and deconstruction of City-owned in rem properties. The departments shall submit the plan to the Finance and Personnel Committee and to the Common Council for approval.

Body

Whereas, The 2017 Budget allocates funding to replace a number of City-owned lead water-service lines and to partially subsidize replacement of private-owned lead water-service lines; and

 

Whereas, The City owns more than 1,200 in rem properties containing structures, many in need of rehabilitation, demolition, or deconstruction; and

 

Whereas, The Department of Public Works, Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of City Development, and Milwaukee Water Works need to hire workers for water-service line replacement and for rehabilitation, demolition, and deconstruction projects involving City-owned in rem properties; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works, Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of City Development, and Milwaukee Water Works shall jointly formulate a workforce development plan to hire workers for water-service line replacement, and for rehabilitation, demolition, and deconstruction of City-owned in rem properties; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the departments shall submit the plan to the Finance and Personnel Committee and to the Common Council for approval no later than 4 months after adoption of this resolution.
