Minutes note: Ms. Hatala said that the owner wants historic status for the property. This area was formerly an area with a high concentration of Polish residents. The building is in a commercial area with numerous small businesses. The building was in the Bzdawka family for 60 years. There was a residence there prior to 1900 and the storefront was put on the building in 1900. The archecture is Polish Renaissance and mirrors buildings constructed in town squares in Europe. The edging is constructed out of sheet metal. The architect isn't known, but it may have been Stanley Kadow, who did similar work in the area. The site has a concrete block garage. Frank Bzdawka retired in 1933 and was active in local politics; he died in 1944 and his widow died in 1962. The building was sold out of the family in 1974. Staff recommends permanent historic designation based upon e-1and e-5.
