Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install a traffic control signal at the intersection of West Cypress Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue in the 15^th Aldermanic District with funding from the Department of Public Works capital fund at an estimated cost of $75,000. 

Body

Whereas, Prior changes to increase pedestrian and vehicle safety have been implemented at the intersection of West Cypress Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue and have been inadequate to accommodate current demand; and

Whereas, The installation of a traffic control signal at the intersection West Cypress Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue will provide for a better exchange of right-of-way to allow for the safe crossing of pedestrians and vehicles at the intersection; and

Whereas, The estimated cost of the installation of a traffic control signal is $75,000, and is included in the Department of Public Works traffic signal capital fund approved under Common Council File Number 151122; and

Whereas, The installation of a traffic control signal at West Cypress Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue is scheduled for fall 2016; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to install a new traffic control signal at the intersection of West Cypress Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue using funding from the Department of Public Works capital fund.
