Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of East Wells Street (USH 18) from North 6th Street to North Broadway, in the 4th Aldermanic District, with Federal and State Aid. The City is responsible for 25 percent of the preliminary engineering costs on this project in accordance with Wisconsin Department of Transportation policy. City costs for the construction of this project are dependent upon parking allowed. The estimated total cost of this project is $2,530,000, of which the City’s share is $551,600.

Whereas, A project agreement has been executed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee for the reconstruction of East Wells Street (USH 18) from North 6th Street to North Prospect Avenue with Federal and State Aid under the State Highway Rehabilitation Program, in accordance with Common Council Resolution File Number 111363, adopted February 28, 2012; and
Whereas, As part of preliminary engineering, the City has requested and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has agreed to resurface the roadway between North 6th Street and North Broadway based on condition; and
Whereas, It is the City’s intention to apply for future State Highway Rehabilitation funding to reconfigure and reconstruct East Wells Street from North Broadway to North Prospect Avenue; and
