Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised project agreement titled “State and Municipal Agreement for a State-Let Highway Project” with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the improvement of traffic signals on West Forest Home Avenue and South 27th Street at six Connecting Highway Intersections, with 90% State and Federal aid, under the Highway Safety Improvement Program; with an estimated total project cost of $1,089,350, which is an increase in construction cost of $134,450, of which the City’s share is $13,445 and the Grantor’s share is $121,005.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming, design and improvement of traffic signals on West Forest Home Avenue and South 27th Street at six Connecting Highway Intersections with State and Federal aid under the Highway Safety Improvement Program. The estimated total cost of the project is $1,089,350, which is an increase in construction cost of $134,450, of which the City’s share is $13,445 and the Grantor’s share is $121,005. Construction funds for this project will be in future resolutions.

Whereas, A project agreement has been executed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee for the improvement of traffic signals on West Forest Home Avenue and South 27th Street at six Connecting Highway Intersections, with 90% State and Federal aid, under the Highway Safety Improvement Program, in accordance with the Common Council Resolution File Number 140654, adopted September 23, 2014; and
Whereas, As part of the preliminary engineering process, construction costs have been refined; and
Whereas, The project is currently scheduled for construction in 2018, and construction funds for the project will be requested in a separate resolution; and
Whereas, A revised project agreement indicating updated construction costs has been received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for City execution; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute the Revised Project Agreement for the improvement of traffic signals on West Forest Home Avenue and South 27th Street at six Connecting Highway Intersections, updating construction costs; and, be it
Further Resolved, A copy of the revised project agreement is attached to this resolution file by reference as though set forth in full.
