Analysis
Under this ordinance, the commissioner of public works is granted the authority to post any sign or notice necessary to support city efforts in the public right-of-way under the commissioner’s jurisdiction.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 116-2.5 of the code is amended to read:
116-2.5. Installation of Signs, Signals, Markings.
>>1. TRAFFIC SIGNS.<< It shall be the duty of the commissioner of public works to make, erect and install, wherever deemed necessary or as provided by law, ordinance or resolution, all highway traffic parking, warning, regulatory and guide signs and traffic signals and paint or otherwise properly mark all highway centerlines, traffic lanes, parking zones, school zones and crosswalks on the highways under [[his]] >>the commissioner’s<< jurisdiction.
Part 2. Section 116-2.5-2 of the code is created to read:
116-2.5. Installation of Signs, Signals, Markings.
2. OTHER SIGNS. The commissioner of public works may make, erect and install, wherever deemed necessary to support city efforts, any sign or notice to be posted in the public right-of-way under the commissioner’s jurisdiction.
