This resolution authorizes the payment of attorney fees and costs due to the Milwaukee Police Association and its attorneys Jonathan Cermele and Brendan P. Matthews, in the lawsuit entitled Milwaukee Police Association v. City of Milwaukee, et. al., Case No. 2014-CV-10455, for the total amount of $13,000.

Whereas, Petitioner, Milwaukee Police Association filed an action pursuant to the Wisconsin Public Records Law, against the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission neglected to release certain records that were responsive to the Milwaukee Police Association public records request that had previously been released to other requesters or had otherwise already been made public; and
Whereas, Under the Wisconsin Public Records Law, successful litigants are entitled to reasonable costs and attorney fees; and
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends that the City of Milwaukee pay attorney fees and costs in the amount of $13,000 to the Milwaukee Police Association and its attorneys; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $13,000, payable to the order of Cermele & Matthews, as soon as practicable, in full and final payment of attorney fees and costs, the amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 0001-1490-S118-006300; and, be it
Further Resolved, That for and in consideration of the above-referenced payment, this matter is fully and finally resolved.
