Title
A substitute ordinance renaming a portion of East Polk Street, from Erie Street to its eastern terminus, to East Summerfest Place in the 4th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This ordinance renames East Polk Street to East Summerfest Place, from Erie Street east to its eastern terminus at North Harbor Drive.
Body
Whereas, In 2017, Milwaukee World Festival will celebrate the 50th year of Summerfest; and
Whereas, A request was made by Milwaukee World Festival to change a portion of East Polk to East Summerfest Place; and
Whereas, A postcard survey was made of the four affected properties owners and two of the four supported the change, which meets the code requirements; and
Whereas, The Citizen Advisory Committee on the Naming of Public Buildings, Facilities and Streets met on January 12, 2016 and approved the change by a vote of four “ayes” and one “no”; now therefore,
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. The name of East Polk Street is changed to East Summerfest Place from Erie Street to its eastern terminus.
